I am getting all ready for the Design District Market at the Community Brewery in Dallas, Texas! This is one of my favorite markets in Dallas! Everyone always has a great time! Great vendors (including Dixie Goods Company!), food trucks, bands, outdoor activities and of course, beer! 

For all you world cup fans... they will be showing the World Cup games on a big screen! 

Finally, this is a dog-friendly event!

The Fourth of July is by far my favorite holiday! I love seeing all the patriotic-themed clothing, food, parties, accessories and by far the US Flag! The 'Old Glory' is a beautiful flag - the red, white and blue is truly all-American! 

Fun Fact: The red is for valor, seal and fervency; the white for hope purity, cleanliness of life and rectitude of conduct; the blue, the color of heaven, for reverence to God, loyalty, sincerity, justice and truth.

In the early morning hours, the day of the craft fair, I decided I wanted to try a sock bun for my hair do! After searching around online I finally stumbled upon the trusty Say Yes to Hoboken blog site for instructions. While I did not have an individual sock ready for the cutting... I had to pick from my sock collection for a sock to create this look. After deciding on a pair of pink Argyles (that the elastic was a bit worn) I cut it and was quickly able to stay my hair thanks to, Liz at Say Yes to Hoboken.

I love fun socks. I love getting fun socks for the holidays from stores like j. crew and madewell. For me, while working with children when my scrub pants go a little high while sitting criss cross applesauce on the ground the fun socks always get a funny look and mini conversation starter! Pictured above are some socks that would be styling on my feet!

Royal blue is by far one of my favorite colors! I love the color blue and the many shades of blue. Since it is summer, I cannot help but think of the beach. During my teen years, I spent many summers in Tampa, Florida doing service projects. After a long work week we would spend the weekend at the beach. I have fond memories of being at the beach with all of my friends.  Above is a selection of pastel accessories that remind me of all the colors we often found at the beach!

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to spend the morning at a 2 year old's birthday party. This was not just any party... it was a petting zoo party! The petting zoo party is my inspiration for this Fashion Friday post! While the petting zoo did not have any giraffes, parrots or lions (although one child thought there would be and a hippo) I did get to hang out with some good old fashion farm animals. A friend of mine in Denver recently attended a social event at the Denver Zoo. This outfit is put together with the idea of a future zoo social event. Enjoy!

Fashion Friday // Channeling Sienna Miller on a Walk

To wrap up dog product week... here is an outrageously expensive outfit to take your dog out for a walk. While I tend to fall back on the trusty workout outfits, Sienna Miller wears studded Chloe ankle boots and a Louis Vuitton scarf to walk her dog, Bess! 

One of my favorite gifts I received this year was a pair of Classic Hunter Rain Boots. I do not even begin to hesitate to take Dixie out in the rain now with my awesome boots! If you have a dog and live in a place where rain is to be expected... I highly recommend a pair of rain boots, for you - not your tail-wagging best friend!

One of my favorite looks is above, simple white dress with great accessories! As it gets hotter in Texas this summer this would be a great outfit!! A couple of summers ago a close friend came back from Greece with custom made leather sandals, like those above. Once I laid my eyes on her sandals, I knew I had to have a pair for myself. Since a trip to Greece was not in my future, I was able to snag a pair of Chloe leather wedges on sale at Barneys. They are my go to summer wedges... by far my favorite pair of shoes in my closet.

Handbags are one of my great loves. From an early age, I learned about the techniques of Coco Chanel and Louis Vuitton. There is something to learning about their techniques that allows a learner to fully understand what being a classic means.

2. serving as the standard, model or guide: the classic method of teaching arithmetic.

3. of or pertaining to Green and Roman antiquity, especially with reference to literature and art.

There is nothing better than a diversified handbag collection. I believe by having an assortment of handbags ranging from clutches to totes will allow any outfit travel from day to night. I do not recommend having all your handbags from a specific designer/shop/store.

While I have been subject to purchasing "trendy" handbags and quickly reminding myself that the classics will be what will last the generations. This summer with the great splash of color we are finding everywhere in fashion I put together of a few of my favorite handbags in an assortment of warm and cool colors.

Fashion Friday // Watch Out

I am in love with my current watch, an Orvis automatic watch with a blue face and brown leather straps. My favorite part is that the watch is automatic and does not need a battery - so cool! Some downsides to an automatic watch is if it is not moving it will stop working and for whatever reason my tends to move a little fast. 


I put together a collection of similar leather watches to "watch out" for out and about. What I found very interesting is all the watches all stopped at 10:10 - odd! After a little research this is what I found on the Internet. 

"Question: When you see an ad with a clock in it the hands are always positioned at 10:10?

Answer: We called Timex for your answer and it says the hands on the clock are placed at 

ten-ten because it's a creative standard industry.

Timex says the hands on the timepieces are place at ten-ten so the company logo on the

face will be framed and not blocked by the hands. 

Timex says the industry standard used to be eight-twenty but that looks too much like a frown and created an unhappy look. 

Timex says in its ads, the clock hands are placed at ten-nine and thirty-six seconds, 

exactly."

Fashion Friday // Nike Path Stylish

As summer is progressing so is the heat and the need to exercise. Although one never really wants to have both of those at the same time (heat + exercise = misery) it is a must on many different levels. What levels you ask? Well... mentally and physically to name just two. After exercising 3-4 days in a row I start to feel on top of the world! As Gretchin Rubin, from the book The Happiness Project, states, " Never skip exercising for two days in a row. You can skip a day, but the next day, you must exercise, no matter how inconvenient." I agree ten-folds to that motto!  Additionally, who said you cannot be stylish while exercising? Thank goodness for all the wonderful companies out there who are making exercising clothing bright and cheerful! These are some of my favorite places to find stylish exercising clothes:

If you were not able to catch Zooey Deschanel's new show on Fox, New Girl, then mark your calendars for the fall season opener, September-ish 2012. This show had me laughing non-stop for approximately 24 minutes every Tuesday night! I have found that not only girls find it humorous... the guys are enjoying this show too! Yay for Fox! 


Zooey Deschanel has impeccable style and a distinctive voice. From her red carpet worthy dresses to her wonderful closet shown to commercial watchers across America thanks to Cotton, the Fabric of Our Lives. 

Zooey is also in a band with Matt Ward, She & Him. Their music is unique and fun... I would definitely give it 5 stars!

This summer, I am thrilled to have a "summer job"! At this awesome job I will be outfitting scrubs, daily! With my need to be classic, I will need to show my inner style through my feet! After years of watching everyone and their brother wear TOMS... I will be investing in a pair for myself. I want to give TOMS a try, especially with their One for One movement. You never know - maybe I'll join in their One for One movement for Sunglasses, too?!

As a child growing up I can vividly remember picking out an Easter dress for Easter Sunday. The dresses were almost always itchy and there were always hats and gloves to help accessorize the pastel dresses. Now as an adult we get to pick out our own dresses and our accessories are so much better!
