A Baby Shower

I love to take part in ANY event possible. I love to plan, create and decorate. A co-worker at work is pregnant and that means... "Baby Shower Time"!!! I was so excited and just over all thrilled with the opportunity to help plan the shower for her. I wanted to share with all my readers the invitation and sketches I made for the shower. I used ideas from Pinterest to create a Green, Pink and Brown themed Baby Shower.

The invitation was made on Microsoft Publisher using different sized circles. I was able to group all the circles together in order to place them easily on the page. I added a Text Box with all the details then made it semi-transparent in order to show all the dots on the page.

Dixie Goods & Light Boxes

My Crafting "To-Do" List:

- Make Light Box

For the past two months I have been wanting to make my very own light box in order to take better pictures of my products. After a short tutorial I gathered all the components and went to town! A short while later I was positioning my lamps and positioning some of my dog collars for pictures. Enter: Dead Camera Battery! Just my luck.. so while my camera battery was charging I used my iPhone for a few pictures. After dinner at Velvet Taco, I returned home to a fully charged battery and the excitement of taking my first official pictures with my light box.

Day One

Over the years I have kept journals on and off again only to forget about writing daily and then finding it some months later wishing I would have kept up with it. I cannot lie I love reading through my middle school and high school journals -what was I thinking?!

Step in... Day One...

Day One is an application for my lovely iMac in which I'll be able to keep an electronic journal of my day to day life. I was excited to make my first entry... and it's been completed!

What can you do to help?

My sweet girl, Dixie, is a Golden Retriever. I believe I won the lottery when I found her and I am rewarded everyday with her unconditional love and attention. I never realized just how social one becomes as a dog owner in the sense that on every walk I go on I have at least one encounter with another dog owner or just a dog lover walking. I hear time and time again, "oh! I had a Golden Retriever when I was growing up and Buddy, Rover, Millie, fill in the name of your pet you grew up with here, was absolutely extraordinary!" I am both blessed with the affection they share towards Dixie and happy to hear about all the stories they have from growing up with a dog.

Luck of the Irish

For St. Patrick's Day this year, I wanted to put together an outfit that I would love to wear to celebrate. Green clothing has not always been the best choice of color for my skin tone. So with gold, navy and touches of green I will be set to celebrate the Irish holiday without the fear of getting pinch!

Happy St. Patrick's Day,

I've Done It!

Well after many months of sadness and disappointment about not having Facebook in order to sign up with Pinterest... my clever and quite smart friend said, "You can sign up with Twitter and you don't have to Tweet a thing....". So here I am five hours later delving into the world of Pinterest and loving it! I feel like I am frantically putting together the ideas I have had for many years all onto one board.

At this point I have only pinned two items... but it's a start and I'm having a feeling this'll be a late night!

So with no further ado...

Happy Valentine's Day

I would like to wish all my readers a Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you'll be able to enjoy it with someone/something you love.

The picture above is actually the card I sent out to my friends and family for Valentine's Day. Since I did not get it all together before the winter holidays to send out a card then, I thought why not for Valentine's Day?! I looked online on many of websites (minted.com, snapfish.com, shutterfly.com, finestationary.com) and I could not justified spending nearly $4 a card! So, after finding the perfect font at 1001freefonts.com I created this card in Microsoft Publisher, printed, stuffed, addressed, stamped and sent out. The key to this mini DIY project was patience.

Happy Valentine's Day,

Listening to Books

My daily commute to works gives me about an hour of time in the car to listen to the radio or drive in silence. When the commercials seem to never end of the radio I have found that audio books are a great solution. I am fortunate enough to have a great set of parents who spend a lot time in the car themselves to get audio book hand-me-downs!

Since the end of November/beginning on December, I have been listening to a number of books on CD.  I love just about any murder mystery/drama/conspiracy theory novel out there and will read anything by Nelson DeMille, John Grisham, Tom Clancy, Michael Connelly, Dan Brown, James Patterson or Emily Giffin. With all those authors and genre of books I believe I am pretty well set for those long commutes that await me every morning and afternoon. I want to share my most recent reads/listens with you and give recommendations of more books on CD for those long (or short) commutes, where ever you might be headed.

Recent Reads:
Killing Lincoln  By: Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard
Divide and Conquer By: Tom Clancy (Note: Abridged)
Lullaby Town By: Robert Crais
Ford County By: John Grisham

Other Recommendations:
(Any book from the above mentioned authors)
Bossypants By: Tina Fey
The Third Secret By: Steve Berry
Zero Day By: David Baldacci

Other options besides buying the books on CD.... This Christmas my brother drew our father's name for our annual Christmas gift exchange. Later that evening my sister-in-law asked my brother, "Do you know what you are going to get your person?" with a short and quick reply he stated, "Yes." Our father loves listening to books on CD, so a subscription to audibles.com was the perfect gift for him. Shortly after "opening" his gift he already had about 10 books on his wish list! Every month he gets to select one book to listen to via the Internet or by download (additionally he can purchase an unlimited amount of books at a discounted rate). Probably Top 5 gifts of all time for him. Our father has three books down and many more on his wish list. Maybe someday I will join audibles too, but for now I am very happy with my audio book hand-me-downs!

Happy Listening/Reading!
Kady
