I am proud to report - we went on A Real Vacation! 


We were down in Key West, Florida all weekend long - the food, company, events and people were all exceptional! I wanted to share my favorite picture from the weekend.

As a child growing up I can vividly remember picking out an Easter dress for Easter Sunday. The dresses were almost always itchy and there were always hats and gloves to help accessorize the pastel dresses. Now as an adult we get to pick out our own dresses and our accessories are so much better!

Quick Post - Baby Shower

The baby shower was a blast!! Everything came together so nicely. I failed to take pictures... but I did get two pictures from someone who was smart enough to take pictures!

Year of Onesies

My most exciting craft for the baby shower was the... 

Directions for making a Year of Onesies:

1. Gather all the materials

• 1/2 Yard of Preferred Fabric (100% Cotton)
• Heat'n Bond Ultra Hold Iron-On Adhesive
• Letter Templates or Computer/Printer (to print of the individual numbers)
• Sharpie and Scissors
• Iron/Ironing Board
• 12 Onesies (Read Note Below)

 A Note About Onesies

Helpful hint about purchasing Onesies for the "Year of Onesies"

Buy the following packs:

1 - 0-3 months (Will be used for months 1, 2, 3)

1 - 3-6 months (Will be used for months 4, 5, 6)

1 - 6-9 months (Will be used for months 7, 8, 9)

1 - 12 months (Will be used for months 10, 11, 12)

Note: There is no such thing as 9-12 months

2. Decide on Letter Templates or Font. 

I used Minya Nouvelle from 1001freefonts.com

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12

3. Print and cut of the appropriate numbers in order to trace on the Heat'n Bond Adhesive.

 4. Trace the numbers UPSIDE DOWN onto the Heat'n Bond Adhesive. 
Remember: You will have to trace the number 1 - 5 times and the number 2 - 2 times

  

5. Cut out the numbers and peel off the backing. 

 6. Iron the numbers onto the Onesies.  

 7. Sit back and enjoy your creation.

Baby Sock Corsage

I would like to share some of the crafts I created for the upcoming baby shower. I spent a lot of time reading through blogs and posts about how to make a baby sock corsage. Taking step-by-step pictures was an after thought so the socks do not match the end corsage. 

1. Gather your supplies

• Baby Socks (At least two pairs)
• Floral Tape
• Fake Mini Flowers
• Fake Leaves (My local crafting shop was kind enough to let me have the broken off leaves on the ground)
• Ribbon

Solution: Liquid Laundry Detergent Cup

I constantly have a problem with my liquid laundry cup... it falls between the washer and dryer, it will not stay attached to the liquid laundry bottle and worst of all I just plain cannot find it. While working on my Sunday laundry the idea finally hit me... use a magnet! I instantly went into the kitchen and within minutes the endless search for the cup is over! I wanted to share this quick solution with all my wonderful readers.

I was not ready for the 28th birthday - to put it frank - I did not want it to happen. For me, 28 was a big number and a big birthday. After all my time spending go through other blogs I have started to see a trend of "Bucket Lists", "To Do Lists" and "# of things to be before I turn #". I jumped on that bandwagon to in order to feel like I have accomplished something in my 28th year as I slowly make my way to 29.

Spring has Sprung

Here in Dallas the sun has permanently taken it's place in the high sky and the wind is now warm - bottom line - it's spring! As a part of my 29 Project, which you will read about soon, I took Dixie on a long walk today. I thought it was fitting to say our gold at the end of our rainbow on this walk was a creek!! Dixie was in the creek in no time and I had my phone out to take pictures of the sweet girl in her element - creeks! I hope you enjoy the weather where ever you are located!

The Swoon Event

 

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending The Swoon Event at Southside Lamar here in Dallas. I attended the market with P's mom, her friend and the friend's daughter. P's mom's friend's daughter is recently engaged - so it was fun talking with all the vendors about an upcoming wedding! I would like to share my adventure and my fun finds! 

Vera Green

  

At the Vera Green booth she helped me make a DIY boutonnieres. I chose a lamb's ear and succulent and then combined it all with twine. I added a flower from another booth towards the end which made the world of a difference!

f. is for frank

f. is for frank is a company that a friend of my co-owns. I LOVE their jewelry - very unique pieces that you are not able to find just anywhere. I bought the hickory earrings in gold to be my new everyday earring. 

Low Country Quisine

My hungry stomach left this booth very satisfied. We had Shrimp & Grits and Key Lime, Strawberry and Red Velvet Cake! One of the owners is from Georgia - so I know this food is good! (I am originally from the great state of Georgia) In the future this catering company will be on my must have list for future events!

Lil Co

We had an amazing conversation with the owner of this company. She was a great vendor to talk with and I definitely want to give her my business! I prefer to support local businesses and she's local! I have been thinking about the Ikat type invitations since we left her booth. Looking forward to watching her work on her blog and purchasing some items from her Etsy shop. 

Oil and Cotton 

Calligraphy class has always been on my to do list. At the Oil and Cotton booth I was perusing their class list and I found a Calligraphy Class. As I talked about my interest in the class P's mom offered to attend the class with me! I cannot wait to sign and and go to the class with P's mom! 

Blue Eye Brown Eye

I got COTTON CANDY at the swoon event from this great booth full of inspiration, Blue Eye Brown Eye! Their calligraphy was amazing and very inspirational! I loved all their Letterpress cards on the Etsy site.
