Buggy Designs has a great website where you are able to actually see your preferred options. I spent quite some time selecting a variety of options available.

Here are my top three choices:

Fourth of July // 'MERICAN DREAM

'Merican Dream

The Fourth of July is by far my favorite holiday! I love seeing all the patriotic-themed clothing, food, parties, accessories and by far the US Flag! The 'Old Glory' is a beautiful flag - the red, white and blue is truly all-American!

Fun Fact: The red is for valor, seal and fervency; the white for hope purity, cleanliness of life and rectitude of conduct; the blue, the color of heaven, for reverence to God, loyalty, sincerity, justice and truth.

Happy Fourth!

Time Off // Re-Starting a fresh steele

After more than a year away from a fresh steele, I am back! My plate was full and a fresh steele took the backseat without a second thought or notice. I am hoping to spend a little creative time here sharing what I am finding across the internet and what I am crafting here at home a.k.a. Dixie Goods Company Studio!

Speaking of Dixie Goods Company... This month [July 2014], we will be completing our first photo shoot with a local photographer and I could not be more excited! I am looking forward to a more polished look to my Etsy page and fingers crossed, a simple website! We will be at the Design District Market at the Community Brewery on July 12th! I'll be posting more on that in the days to come!

Speaking of the days to come... July Fourth is by far my favorite holiday! There is nothing better than all the American flags and patriotic themed everything! Get excited for tomorrow's post!

Happy Everything!

a long long time...

Oh, me... Oh, my... it's been a long, long time.

If I were to tell you my life has been a roller coaster ride for the past 7 weeks - I would hope to hear you say, "Where does the roller coaster line begin?!" I have been experiencing a lot of life changes and finding that 24 hours might be the perfect number of hours in the day for the earth to rotate, but not enough for me. Between Dixie, family, work, Dixie Goods Company and plain life - I just cannot find enough hours in the day.
Here is the picture summary of the past few weeks!

Wore a GREAT Chevron Sequined dress to a life-long friends' wedding!

Dixie swam at Lake Grapevine at the Golden Retriever Rescue of North Texas Annual Picnic!

Lots of play time with Champ - Dixie's Bestie!

Dixie and her cousins - the J. Lohr Wine Dog Gang!

F. is for Frank made these amazing tags for my collars - Awesome!

Completed the ONE-OF-A-KIND Carseat Cover for a great friend!

Happy Tuesday!!

The Art of the Bow Tie

This summer, I was lucky enough to spend a week with my Uncle here in Dallas while he was helping a good friend of his at an Artist's Workshop. My Uncle and I spent some good quality time together. I have to say, I learned a lot about my Uncle that week; because, I only grew to love him even more. In life, we do not know what is awaiting us around the corner since just a month after leaving Dallas, he passed away. What I learned about my Uncle was that he lived his life to the fullest. He was a great man who was always willing to lend a hand. At his memorial service, a number of his friends stood up on stage in front of his friends and family and told stories of his past. My Aunt artfully put together outfits that my Uncle would wear. When his friends came out - I immediately started crying as the likeness to my Uncle was so great. It felt like 6 of my Uncles magically appeared on stage. My Uncle was a wonderful man and left a wonderful legacy. While I have many pieces of his artwork in my house, I added a piece that I created myself this weekend and would like to share with all of my readers.

A quick back story...
I love bow ties. I like the way they look - they can take a suit to another level in my opinion. For my brother's wedding I wanted my boyfriend, at the time, to wear a bow tie to the wedding and he kindly obliged. Once we received the bow ties in the mail I was quick to figure out just how to tie a bow tie. After what seemed like an hour trying to get it right using my thigh I had finally perfected the tie. Fast forward to the wedding, my boyfriend showed up with his family and an untied bow tie. I stepped away from my bridesmaid duty to tie his bow tie, gladly! (That's not to say I did not like my bridesmaid duties, my future sister-in-law, made the morning really easy for us - I was just proud to tie the bow tie.) After the ceremony, my Uncle commented to me that he liked my boyfriend's bow tie and I was quick to admit I tied it! Well, with any admission - comes a challenge. With a quick swoop he had untied his own bow tie and challenged me to tie his own. Well, I tied it and I was proud and I can say I had a proud Uncle! We posed for a quick picture and enjoyed the rest of the evening immensely.

After his wonderful service in August, my Aunt urged friends and family to adopt some of my Uncle's clothing and accessories. I walked away with a hand full of bow ties and a bowler's hat. I wanted to put the bow ties somewhere as a show case. They are a wonderful collection of bow ties. After much thought and planning... here is my final product that is now on my wall as a piece of art. The bow ties, to me, show my Uncle's endless style and ability to be unique and one of a kind.

Happy Bow Ties!
