Cake Balls 101: Part Two

Disclaimer: Please work with me here as I am learning how to explain in writing the process of making cake balls. The last time I made cake balls, I timed the process to give you an approximate "cooking time". I made 108 cake balls and it took 5 hours over a period of 3 days. Day 1: Bake Cake, Cool, Combine with Icing & Refrigerate - 1 hour Day 2: Scoop and form cake balls into balls & Freeze - 1 hour Day 3: Dip cake balls into candy coating and decorate - 3 hours

Cake Ball Making Instructions by Kady:
1. Bake cake according to the directions on the box in a cake pan of your choosing.
2. Let the cake cool completely before transferring to a mixing bowl.
3. Crumble the baked cake into a mixing bowl.

4. Use a stand mixer paddle attachment to crumble the cake into semi-fine crumble. (If you do not have a stand mixer, use a hand mixer. If you do not have a hand mixer, use forks to help you crumble the cake.)
5. Once the cake is completely crumbled add 1 container of icing to the cake crumble. (I sometimes microwave the icing for 10 seconds to make it easier to combine - NOTE: remove ALL foil on icing container before microwaving)

6. Mix the icing and crumbled cake together until well combined.

7. Scoop mixture into a sealable container and refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight. (I prefer to leave the mixture in the refrigerator overnight to help spread out the work of making cake balls.)
Happy Cooking!
