Dyson DC35 Multi floor Digital Slim

As the post title indicates I have a some new technology that I would like
to introduce you to... My new Dyson DC35 Multi Floor Digital Slim

Having a Golden Retriever is wonderful with one exception - the endless shedding! While I am used to the dog hair in every corner what I am not used to is my broom and endless sweeping that goes along with all the hair! My broom just could not get the job done and I have known for many months that I need a cordless vacuum.

I could not be any happier with the idea of sweeping out of the picture! I already used up the battery and it is currently plugged in and juicing up for our next tour!

Pros: Lightweight, Easy to Use, Gets ALL the hair!
Cons: I wish the battery lasted longer than 6-15 minutes on a single charge

Happy Vacuuming!

"Do nothing, then rest"

"How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then to rest afterward."
-Spanish Proverb

This week proved to be one of the longest and most grueling weeks. Friday seemed like a distant relative that I would never get to know - yet - here we are. My plans this weekend are to sew up my current dog collar orders and do nothing, then rest.

I encourage all my wonderful readers to do nothing and the rest. When we all get so caught up in the circus that we call life we can stop and remember the time when we did nothing, and then rested.

Happy Resting,

Art Deco

I have a secret to share... I have been slowly falling in love with Art Deco.

Definition:

Art Deco
\ˌärt-ˈde-ˌkō; ˌär(t)-dā-ˈkō, ˈär(t)-ˈdā-(ˌ)\

NOUN

a style of decorative art developed originally in the 1920s with a revival in the 1960s, marked chiefly by geometric motifs, curvilinear forms, sharply defined outlines, often bold colors, and the use of synthetic materials, as plastics.
ORIGIN
French Art Déco, from Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, an exposition of modern decorative and industrial arts held in Paris, France, in 1925. First Known Use: 1966
Georg Jensen - Cactus
"Designed by sculptor gundolph albertus in 1930, the cactus pattern is representative of the art deco period. The stylized delicate detail of the cactus on the flatware shows a clear link to the naturalist themes of art nouveau while moving forward into mid-century design themes. Albertus was the production director of georg jensen from 1926-1954. The pattern is one of the most famous produced by the silversmithy."

Philippe Deshoulieres - Arcades
"Philippe Deshoulieres Limoges china is a French based family company dating back to 1826. Deshoulieres is known for luxury porcelain and dinnerware; beautiful porcelain that moves with the times with taste and nobility. The Deshoulieres philosophy encompasses design with high standards and audacity to accompany you in your most precious moments: formal occasions, weddings or simply to enhance your home everyday in the most beautiful way."

April Floral Arrangement

Have to admit it... it's been a long time since I bought flowers and I went a little with my heart and not my head. I'll be better prepared next month for the May Floral Arrangement!

So without further ado... here are the flowers I selected for this months arrangement(s):

1. 2.

3.4.

5.6.

I feel like I did the bouquets so wrong - per the close up shots.
I'll be doing a lot of research between now and the May arrangement(s)!

Happy Flowers,

Flamboyance of Flamingos

Nothing is better than turning up the music and dancing around the apartment with Dixie! After a recent iTunes download, we were jamming out to the following tunes! Can't you imagine all of these flamingo's at the Dallas World Aquarium dancing to this music?!

Road

"For a long time it seemed to me that life was about to begin - Real Life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through fiirst, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. This perspective has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one. Happiness is a journey, not a destination!"

This week I would like to focus on happiness. I know that I often do not share personal thoughts and messages; however I believe this is an appropriate time. I look forward to sharing messages of happiness the rest of the week.

"Pin It to Win It"

Happy Monday!
With the sometimes overwhelming amount of emails I receive from stores, online shops, blogs and restaurants they often need something big to grab my attention. Well, the Ballard Design email got my attention!! Over the weekend my to-do had a last minute addition "Enter the Pin it to Win It Contest".

With my new found love of Pinterest and my long time love of Ballard Design this was an exciting contest for me!! (Plus - I love math and a challenge)

I struggled at first for an idea of what kind of room I would like to create... however I thought of what I would really love to have and that was an office. After calculating and re-calculating I was able to find an assortment of at least 4 items without going over $1,000.00 to enter into their contest.

After creating your own Pinterest Board make sure to add it to my comments below so I can see what you have created!! Best of luck and be sure to enter before April 20th!!

Happy Pinning!

Fine Print: I cannot be held responsible for you entering this contest, winning the contest or not entering this contest. As always refer to Ballard Design for the Rules of this Contest!

DIY: Covered Utensil Holders

Call me green, I like to reuse as much as possible! You will find jars galore in my kitchen awaiting the next project!! Along with jars - I fully clean and sanitize all can food cans after using them. In my office, I have cans labeled with all different types of supplies the children might need when we are working. For the baby shower, I wanted to redo some cans to hold the utensils. In order to go along with the pink and green theme, I took some scrapbook paper and attached it to the sides to spice the cans up... here's the tutorial:

Materials:
Cleaned Can Food Cans
Double Sided Tape
Scrapbook Paper

  First:
Clean cans and pinch top (sharp rim) with pliers in order to make sure it is no longer razor sharp.

 Second:
Pick out matching paper - I ended up sticking with the pink/green and white polka dots.

 Third:
Measure the width and length of the cans and add 1/2 inch to allow for folding the edges.  Cut the paper to the correct widths/lengths.

Fourth:
After folding down 1/8 inch on the top and bottom use double sided tape to attach one of the paper to the can. Slowly attach the rest of the paper using double sided tape. I only attached it in two more places before folding over the end edge and taping.

Fifth:
Sit back and enjoy your decorated cans!!

What other uses can you think of for these cans? Please share your comments below!

Happy DIY-ing,

The Park

We are lucky enough to be close to a park in order to allow Dixie to run and play with her friends! Tonight after a long walk around the neighborhood we happened to walk by the park.
Side note: We have been working hard on sitting at all intersections and whenever she desires to cross the street. This is important for safety reasons in such a high traffic area.
As we were walking by the park I all of a sudden felt a change in the leash... she was sitting! She was wanting to cross the street to play in the park; although no other dogs were there. Within moments after rewarding her for sitting and going to the park, dogs appeared out of no where! Tonight she got to play with one of her best friends, Liberty, and a new friend, Red. I wanted to share the sitting moment with all my readers - because I am so proud of her!

Happy Walking!

Jezebel

During our layover in Houston on the way to our "Real Vacation" in Key West, Florida I stumbled upon Jezebel. When I picked up the magazine I had no clue what I was in for once I opened the front cover. I wanted to share with all my readers a great magazine about Atlanta. If I were living in Atlanta - I would definitely be reading this magazine monthly and participating in all the events mentioned!

Happy Reading!
